How quickly relief is experienced can vary among individuals. Many notice relief from itching almost immediately while for others it may take a little longer (days to weeks). Broken skin can often occur from scratching itchy skin. It is common for eczema sufferers to develop skin infections. 'Open' skin allows bacteria to enter the body and travel into the blood stream. Almost all sufferers of eczema (about 90%) have a type of bacteria called Staphylococcus Aureus (also known as Golden Staph) present on thier skin. This bacteria is often resistant to antibiotic treatment. It worsens the condition and slows down the healing process.

Initially lesions may become drier and flakier as the 'bad' or affected skin has to come off. It will generally continue flaking until new, healthy skin appears. This may take a few days to a few weeks. The new skin may appear slightly pink (raw) at first. If transitioning from cortisone cream to Hope’s Relief Premium Eczema Cream, do so in stages as stopping cortisone treatment abruptly may cause a flare up. The reason for this is that cortisone suppresses the condition, drives it deeper into your system, so when it’s stopped, some symptoms may come back worse than before, even though Hope’s Relief Premium Eczema Cream is starting to be applied. It is best to persevere knowing that Hope’s Relief Premium Eczema Cream will soothe your eczema symptoms. In very severe cases Hope’s Relief can be applied at the same time and then the cortisone can slowly be withdrawn in stages.

Hope’s Relief Therapeutic Eczema Cream is an excellent skin moisturiser. It can also can make lesions of eczema or psoriasis dry and flaky as the cream takes affect. If this happens, continue applying Hope’s Relief 3 to 4 times per day as directed on the label. The ‘bad’ skin has to come off somehow, so it will continue flaking until clear skin is revealed. This process may take from few days to a few weeks, depending on the severity of your condition. If your eczema or psoriasis was severe, it is possible that the new skin may be slightly pink at first. This should fade over time as Hope’s Relief is excellent in treating scarring.
